About this species
A large kingsnake that can reach impressive lengths. It occupies a variety of habitats, from dense forests to plantations.
Enrichment & behavioral stimulation
Central American Kingsnake is an arboreal snake โ provide sturdy climbing structure alongside secure hides and scent-based foraging.
- Provide at least two snug hides (warm and cool) plus a humid hide.
- Add sturdy branches and vines sized to the snake for climbing and perching.
- Warm prey and drag it along decor to create scent trails for tracking.
- Keep the base cluttered with low plants and cork so the snake feels secure moving down.
- Offer a range of perch diameters to exercise grip variety.
- Provide a sturdy water dish large enough for soaking.
Housing & Social Behavior
Like other kingsnakes, these should remain solitary to avoid the high risk of cannibalistic behavior.
